This includes changing die density to something more dense and therefore dropping the sticks down to single rank from dual rank because it was cheaper. Within the same model number, they change the memory IC depending on what they have available any given day. The solution with this is just RAM manufacturers suck.
In the Q&A at the Corsair RAM Amazon link they mention that each 16GB stick is dual rank and I was watching some tech youtube videos and they say that most 16GB RAM sticks are dual rank (not always the case).
